The story of the skulls

I’ve always been interested in the hardware store, even as a little kid. Not because I wanted to build a house or fix anything, but because I saw all the little trinkets as future art projects. Fast forward to 2020 when we all had too much time on our hands, I saw a chance to make one of my ideas come to life. So, I ordered a large quantity of skull-shaped wall-mounted bottle openers, some art supplies, and painted away!

The idea came from a bottle opener mounted on a cabinet in my uncle’s garage. He’s always been a big craft beer drinker and back in the day, most of them were packaged in bottles. Naturally, that painted bottle opener became well-worn as we opened bottle after bottle. It became such a great gathering spot while we enjoyed drinks and hung out at family gatherings.

Then I thought, what if the bottle opener had bright designs and unexpected patterns? This new version would be designed to make a statement. It would add a splash of color to otherwise monochrome design schemes and be intended to stand out. You could hang multiple to really do something interesting! I got carried away in my enthusiasm. And so, I got to work.

Now, I’m sharing some of the finished pieces I think would bring joy to others, while also creating new ones along the way. Perhaps you can find a space in your space to use as a functional bottle opener or just admire. But with more craft beer now in cans, the only the only thing they may open at my house is the Topo Chico for my ranch water.
